Mrs.Oshin Goyal
Fortis Escorts Heart Institute bids farewell to Oshin Goyal, a 23-year- old heart transplant recipient. She had been afflicted by restrictive cardiomyopathy for nine years. Her condition caused swelling in her feet and legs, progressing to breathlessness, abdominal discomfort, and facial swelling. Dr. Z S Meharwal performed the surgery on her after a 58-year-old donor's heart, retrieved post-brain hemorrhage, reached her in 27 minutes 56 seconds. Oshin had suffered from restrictive cardiomyopathy for 9 years, causing heart failure due to the heart's inability to expand and pump blood properly. She recovered well after the surgery, highlighting the success of heart transplantation despite India's high cardiovascular disease death rate.
