Patient Name : Dacian Fulga
Age : 58 years
Gender : Male
Country of Origin : Romania
Condition/Diagnosis : Heart Valve Disease Requiring Repeat Surgery
Treatment/ Surgery : Redo Heart Valve Surgery
For Dacian Fulga from Romania, the idea of undergoing heart surgery was already familiar—but that did not make facing another operation any easier. After previously receiving treatment for his heart valve, being told that further surgery was required brought back many of the concerns he had experienced before. This time, Dacian knew more about the process, but he also understood that repeat cardiac surgery could be a serious undertaking.
He began discussing the situation with his family and looking into treatment options outside Romania. India became part of their search as they explored specialist cardiac care and experienced surgical teams. Dacian’s previous medical records, reports, and cardiac investigations were reviewed before travelling so that the treating team could understand his history and discuss the next stage of treatment.
What made the decision different from a first operation was Dacian’s previous experience. He already knew what hospital admission, preparation, and surgery could feel like, but he also remembered the uncertainty of recovery. He wanted to understand why another operation was necessary, what would be done differently this time, and what he should expect after surgery.
Travelling from Romania to India meant placing himself in a new medical environment while dealing with an already complicated history. His family remained closely involved in the decision and accompanied him through the process.
Once he arrived in India, Dacian underwent further consultations and pre-operative assessments. These discussions allowed him to go over his concerns again and make sure he understood the treatment plan before the operation.
The day of surgery was emotionally different because Dacian had been through heart surgery before. There was still nervousness, but there was also a sense of familiarity with what lay ahead. His family waited nearby while the procedure was performed, knowing that the hours of waiting would feel long.
After the surgery, recovery became the priority. Dacian knew better than to expect everything to return to normal immediately. He concentrated on rest, medication, follow-up care, and gradually rebuilding his strength.
Some days brought more progress than others. Rather than becoming discouraged, he focused on the smaller signs of improvement—sitting up more comfortably, walking a little farther, having more energy, and feeling increasingly ready to return to ordinary routines.
For Dacian, the journey to India was about facing a difficult second chapter in his cardiac treatment. The experience required courage for the surgery itself, but also patience during the recovery that followed.
Looking back on his experience, Dacian said:
“Going through heart surgery once had already taught me how serious the process can be, so hearing that I needed another operation was difficult. This time, I knew which questions I wanted to ask and what I needed to understand before making the journey. Coming to India was a decision my family and I discussed carefully. After the surgery, I tried not to compare every day with my previous recovery. I simply concentrated on getting stronger, following the doctors’ advice and giving myself enough time. That approach helped me stay calm when progress felt slower than I wanted.”
Thank You
