This is the story of Mr. Abdul Jalil from UAE, who had a very difficult time dealing with his critical Heart condition. With symptoms like shortness of breath, fatigue and other symptoms, he was in need for a proper cure. He had to travel to Germany to undergo a Heart procedure in order to clear a blockage in the artery. For the time being he was fine but two years later, the symptoms were back.

After this, he went to Bangkok where he got a pacemaker placed in his Heart but still there was not much improvement. In fact, he suffered two strokes, which worsened his condition. So, he again went travelled. This time to the Cleveland Clinic in UAE, where he was told that getting a Heart Transplant procedure would be the best option for him. Also, they suggested him that he should go to India if he wants the earliest possible treatment at a reasonable cost.

So, hoping that this would be their final treatment destination, Mr. Jalil and his wife travelled to Global Health City Hospital in Chennai to meet Dr. Sandeep Attawar. The patient says that it was such a pleasant experience meeting this surgeon. He is not only a very humble person, but also, he never made him feel like he was just a patient. He always met him like a friend. Soon, they received a call regarding availability of the organ and his wife was happy as well as scare as this was going to a very major surgery. Another challenge was that the donor Heart was in Delhi, more than 2000 kms away. Dr. Kumar, Associate Director of Heart Failure Program says that the donor Heart has to reach the recipient withing a span of four hours. Fortunately, with proper planning, the Heart could be brought to Chennai in 3 hours 45 minutes and Dr. Attawar could do the procedure without any hassle.

The recovery was extremely smooth and today Mr. Jalil feels very energetic. Dr. Attawar was very particular about the follow ups and would come regularly to meet the patient. He says that unlike earlier times, today there was very advanced and wide range of medications available because of which the chance of body rejecting the new organ has gone down tremendously. Today, the patient feels no pain, breathing difficulties, he can walk comfortably and can perform his routine activities without any challenges. He cannot thank Dr. Attawar enough for his dedication and for giving him this renewed chance of life.

Thank you
